    Exodus 20

    The biblical calendar was not based on solar year length, but rather, on the prophetic year. The Biblical calendar is divided into twelve thirty-day months, with each month lasting thirty days. For instance, the Flood began on the seventeenth day of the second month (Gen. 7:11) and lasted for 150 days. Genesis also indicates that the Biblical month is thirty days long, and so twelve thirty-day months would equal a 360-day year.

    Another reason to believe the Bible’s calendar is accurate is the fact that many ancient civilizations spoke and wrote about the 360-day year. In the Brahmanic literature, the sun and moon were described in detail. Eventually, this system became the basis for the Hindu calendar, which is a 365 1/4 day year. The 360-day year was also used in Ancient Persia and the Assyrian calendar. In the Assyrian calendar, the year was 360 days long and the months were 30 days long.

    Another example of a 360-day year in the Bible can be found in Daniel 7:25. The Antichrist will have absolute power over the nations during this period. And Revelation 13:5-7 will describe a period of three and a half years with forty-two months of thirty days each, totaling twelve hundred sixty days. This clearly shows the use of the 360-day biblical calendar by biblical writers.

    150-day interval

    Genesis does not mention the length of the time interval, but older chronologists counted years from Creation as anno mundi, or “year of the world,” and based their calculations on patriarchal genealogies. In addition, the a.m. scale requires a fixed starting point, which is not provided in Genesis. For this reason, scholars have come up with different B.C. dates, depending on whether they use Masoretic or LXX figures, and according to their interpretation of the OT chronology.

    The KJV’s margins originally did not contain dates, but dates from Archbishop James Ussher’s Annals were added in 1662. Later, the French Catholic Latin Bible incorporated the new dates. Finally, in the 1701 edition of the London Bible, Bishop William Lloyd revised Ussher’s dates and incorporated them into the text.
