What Does Infirmity Mean in the Bible?

Spirit of infirmity
Many people believe that the Bible speaks of a spirit of infirmity that causes sickness and disease. However, some people do not believe that every illness and disease is caused by a demonic being. In fact, in Luke 13:10-11, it is said that there is a “spirit of infirmity” that causes illnesses and disease. While not every disease is caused by a demonic entity, some are caused by demonic oppression and possession.
In Luke 13:10-11 of the King James Version, Jesus heals a woman who was crippled for 18 years and is called “sick by a spirit.” The NASB, NIV, and ESV Bibles use “spirit of infirmity” and “sickness caused by a spirit.”
Jesus was teaching in the synagogues on the sabbath when he saw a woman with a spirit of infirmity. She was bent over and could not raise her head. During her healing, Jesus addressed her with the statement, “Woman, thou art loosed from thy infirmity.” She was healed and was able to stand up without assistance. However, the ruler of the synagogue was indignant at this healing on a sabbath. He explained that one should not work on the sabbath since it is the day for rest. Nevertheless, the ruler of the synagogue rebuked Jesus by saying that “you hypocrites.”
Despite the physical infirmity of the apostle Paul, the apostles were able to preach the gospel despite their physical ailments. The apostle did not describe the details of his physical afflictions, but we can see how Paul used his weaknesses to glorify God by preaching the gospel. Sign of old age

However, this threshold is lower in many developing countries, whose societies measure old age in terms of the ability to contribute to society.
