Cushi is a word that is used in the Hebrew Bible to refer to women. It is a common term used to describe women, and has many variations throughout the Bible. It is also used in the Greek language. In some places, it is used interchangeably with Kushi. Whatever the case, the meaning is the same.

Nimrod
Nimrod is a biblical character and a descendant of Noah. He was a great hunter who fought against the LORD. His renown as a hunter was so great that he was sometimes elevated to the status of a god by his people.
Cush was the father of Nimrod. He was a great hunter before the LORD and became a mighty man on earth. His kingdom began in the land of Shinar and extended to Assyria. He built cities such as Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, and Calah. His land also included Resen, which is located between Nineveh and Calah.
Nimrod was born into a patriarchal society. The patriarchal system placed a man in charge of his family, and women were subordinate to the men. Nimrod had no power in the patriarchal society, and thus he rebelled. He was bloodthirsty and power-hungry.
Zephaniah
Zephaniah, the first of the prophets, is a powerful book. The language is vivid, vigorous, and picturesque. The book is full of ideas that are deeply connected to the Earlier Prophets, such as providential control over nations, the need for purity, justice, and the refining value of suffering.
Some scholars have argued that Zephaniah is descended from a royal line of Cushi people, but Ben Zvi is not so sure. Other scholars have identified Zephaniah as the royal descendant of King Hezekiah. Attempts have been made to reconcile Zephaniah’s genealogy with his Cushite ancestry by positing that Hezekiah married an Ethiopian woman, thereby producing Zephaniah.
In the Bible, the father of Zephaniah is named Cushi. The name Cushi means black in Hebrew and Greek. It was often used to refer to people of African descent. It was also used by Hebrew-speaking Jews to refer to Ethiopians, who were derived from the biblical land of Cush. In Genesis 2:13 the land of Cush is mentioned.

Though scholars disagree on the historical identity of the Cushites, many biblical references point to people from northeastern Africa, historically known as Ethiopia. Other Bible references, however, point to people living in various locations.
The biblical references are contradictory. In one passage, the Cushites are mentioned as “near” the Arabians, but this word can only refer to the Arabian peninsula. While this view has some validity, it is more likely that Ethiopia is the land of Cush. This is because the biblical references for Cush and Sheba mention the two nations separately.
The land of Cush is south of Israel and is sometimes translated as Ethiopia in some versions of the Bible. The name of this area derives from Cush, a son of Ham. The area was important in the ancient Near East, and is mentioned in the Bible 54 times. It is also mentioned in prophetic texts and other historical books.
